Onboarding
Redesign
Designed a tailored onboarding flow to help new users quickly discover content they enjoy — combining UX research, interface design, and content strategy to drive early retention.
Overview
Femtasy is a platform of sensual audios for women. With audios in German, English, and French, it’s the largest female-focused audio erotica platform in Europe.
Despite the rich catalog, trial engagement was low. New users struggled to find content they liked and often cancelled before finishing a full story.
Solution
Asking four key questions upfront to deliver a value-first experience
We changed the flow to onboard users before browsing, to prevent them from feeling lost in the platform and to deliver tailored content early—unlike the old functional onboarding, which focused only on explaining features after membership.
User testing on onboarding and personalization experience
User testing was conducted to evaluate if the right questions were being asked to deliver personalized content and value early in the journey.
Sexual orientation question
Among other questions, we asked about users’ sexual attraction to tailor voice gender in the content.
User testing:
Users are generally attracted to a gender but were curious to explore other voices.
Outcome:
The question was removed, as it didn’t enhance personalization.
No-gos screen
The goal was to allow users to leave out some content they wouldn’t like to see on the platform.
User testing:
This question performed very well, especially for users who had negative sexual experiences and preferred not to see all content.
Outcome:
Not implemented in the first version but considered for future, as hiding content wasn’t yet technically feasible.
